Proud of Sara!
published: Thursday | October 5, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

I am a proud Jamaican living in London and my eyes were filled with tears when I saw Sara Lawrence in the finals of Miss World 2006. The top 10. The final six. She is black and she stood out, she was magnificent. She was intelligent and she showed another part of the world that we have a fantastic culture and that there are fantastic people in Jamaica and there is hope to remove the stereotype we face as Jamaicans, especially when we are abroad. I was overjoyed to see our flag flying high.

She was not crowned the winner by Julia Morley, but in the eyes of many Jamaicans who watched the competition, she was a winner. Well done!

I am, etc.,
