WATERHOUSE WENT atop the Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL) for the first time, with a hard fought 2-1 win over Seba at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium yesterday.
Harbour View, which led the league from the start of the season and once held a 15-point advantage, surprisingly succumbed to the dangerous Reno 2-1 at home to fall one point behind Waterhouse with four rounds remaining.
An understrength Waterhouse team secured their 17th win of the season, moving to 59 points from 29 games, while Harbour View remained on 58 points with a game in hand against Portmore.
Waterhouse got off to a dream start when Jermaine Grey tapped home a rebound in the seventh minute after goalkeeper Alrick Henry twice denied Kirk Ramsey from close range.
Roberto Fletcher doubled the lead in the 34th minute when he latched on to a Roger Rodney pass and placed his shot wide of the diving Henry.
But Seba, with stand-in coach, Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore who played the last 12 minutes, responded quickly after Ricardo Geddes found himself with oceans of space to fire home from the edge of the box to reduce the deficit.
