SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:
THE ABSENCE of a councillor in Portmore is not going down well with Mayor George Lee who is asking for answers.
According to Mayor Lee, Councillor Natalie Campbell-Rodriques of the Westchester division has been away since January and as a result, the division is without represetation.
The mayor said that while he has responsibility for all divisions, in this case, Westchester is in need of the councillor, as he has toured the area and sees the need for Rodriques's presence.
"I toured the area last week and I realised that it needs the representation of Ms. Campbell-Rodriques."
He added, "The time has come when the councillor who is overseas needs to indicate to the council whether she will be resigning or will continue to serve in that capacity in the Portmore Municipal Council, as she cannot continue to represent the people as an absentee member."
The mayor acknowledged that the energy of the councillor deemed one of the brightest in the municipality, is sadly missed, but the work of the council must go on.
