Wild women don't get the blues
published: Monday | March 13, 2006

Tesi Johnson, Gleaner Writer

All these fretting women sitting around the house all day long, and they are wondering when their loving papas are ever coming home.

Wild women never worry. Wiiiiiiild women never never worry.

I got a sweet disposition. Gonna wear my very own. I ain't never gonna spend one lonely night at home all alone

I can go out and drink all the Courvoisier I can find.

Walk the streets and I can tell any man to go to hell if that man doesn't know how to act right

Wild women we don't ever worry. Wiiiiiiild women never never get the blues.

- Lyle Lovett featuring Francine Reed

DO YOU spend your evenings at home pacing the living room, wondering why he has not yet come home? He's out there doing only God-he-knows-what, while you're boxed up at home waiting for him to call, or to come home. Your mind goes wild as you think up a myriad of shenanigans that he could be up to. Here's a suggestion, leave him be!

Life is too short and too sweet to let the fun bypass you, while you're waiting around for someone who isn't waiting around for you. Now is the perfect time to get dressed up in your tightest skirt, and your highest heels and go paint the town red! A woman's life need not orbit the 'sun god' that is her man. It's 2006 for heaven's sake! A wild and free-spirited woman knows that she is the only one responsible for her happiness, so she will go out and seek it, rather than waiting for affirmation from 'some guy'. Men tend to appreciate a woman who can live a joyous and fulfilling life, independent of their relationship. If your presence becomes commonplace in his eyes, you will lose your appeal and become more like an old pair of slippers; and he just might treat you as such. Give him the pleasure of his own private life; meanwhile, you thoroughly enjoy yours.

LEAVE THEM WANTING

Men are natural hunters and love a good chase. For once, let him beg for some of your time. Let him feel jealous because you spent the whole night at the club. Be frivolous and flirty, and stroke your own ego. If he's not pleased with your lifestyle, then he was never good enough for you in the first place. Do not be afraid to say goodbye to a man who wants to limit your 'mojo'. You are a gem, and if he can't see that, then he's missing out on a hell of a ride!

If you have traditionally held the post of the docile female then it might seem daunting to just up and change your lifestyle in a heartbeat. First cultivate a desire to enjoy life no matter what, and if you need some more inspiration, try watching a couple episodes of Sex and the City. Carrie and her gang certainly know how to live it up with men at their mercy, not at the mercy of their men.
