1. Why did you decide to enter the competition?

"I decided to enter the day before the preliminaries finals. I got the motivation from my family who were persuading me and I figure that it may be my lucky year."

2. What is your definition of a beauty queen?

"A beauty queen is somebody that people can look up to, someone who will make her country proud wherever she goes. She is someone who people can look up to and respect. She is also someone who respects herself."

3. What do you expect to achieve by entering this competition?

"I hope to achieve better self esteem. Also to get a chance to learn stuff about other persons. I also get to learn better posture, make friends and it gives me a chance to try and represent my country in the best way."

4. What do you consider to be your best asset?

"I consider my smile to be my best asset. I have always been told that I have a nice smile."

5. How would you sell Jamaica to a foreigner in light of the high crime rate?

"I would sell Jamaica to a foreigner by telling them about our beautiful beaches, our wonderful sceneries, our wonderful museums, great hotels and how warm and friendly the people are. I think the people of Jamaica will make them definitely want to come back."

6. Would you say Jamaican people are diverse, and why?

"I would say Jamaica's people are diverse. We work very hard to get where we want to be. We are a very strong and determined people."

7. If you could meet one person, who would it be and why?

"I would want to meet Susan from the Susan Show on ....

I definitely look up to her and I think of her as my role model, and I definitely would like to get a chance to work with her."

8. If you were to win the title, what sector of society would you work with and why?

"I would work with the elderly. I have experienced it already and I found that I was so soft hearted towards them. I really would like to make a difference in their lives. I like putting a smile on their face."

9. If you were the Prime Minister what changes would you make and how would you go about making those changes?

"I would try to provide more jobs for people so that they could live comfortably. I would do that by visiting the various communities and try as best as possible to find jobs."

10. What is your view on the CSME and do you think it will better Jamaica?

"I believe that the CSME has caused a lot of high taxes, but I think it will be a good thing for Jamaica and we will definitely benefit from it."

Freddi Jacobs

Age: 20 years

Height: 5'3"

Weight: 111 lbs

Occupation: Acting Branch Manager, Jacobs Enterprises Ltd.

1. Why did you decide to enter the competition?

"I was motivated by my family members who see me as being a very responsible person. I also love modelling and entered a competition two years ago and that has boosted my confidence. I feel I am ready to represent Jamaica."

2. What is your definition of a beauty queen?

"A beauty queen is someone who is a good role model, someone who persons from any age group can refer to. A strong individual who does not give up without a fight. Someone who is friendly and persons are drawn to them."

3. What do you expect to achieve by entering this competition?

"I expect to gain a lot more confidence and help a lot of persons, especially children. I really love children. I would like to help persons with HIV/AIDS. Last year's winner Racquel started it and she has motivated me in many ways to continue what she is doing."

4. What do you consider to be your best asset?

"I am always happy. I am a happy and energetic person."

5. How would you sell Jamaica to a foreigner in light of the high crime rate?

"Jamaica does have a lot of crime, but like other countries it has a lot of ups and downs. I would market its natural beauty, the beaches, scenery and to a greater extent the people. Jamaica's people are warm and friendly and it is a comfortable place to be."

6. What do you love most about Jamaica?

"I have visited Blue Mountain and the peace and tranquility I felt from seeing the sun rise from the Blue Mountain was just superb."

7. If you could meet one person, who would it be and why?

"I would want to meet Tyra Banks. I see her as a strong black woman who has been discriminated against. A strong person both inside and out who has helped so many persons."

8. If you were to win the title, what sector of society would you work with and why?

"I would definitely want to work with the young children and the elderly. The children can be a big asset to our country when they are moulded in the right direction. The elderly are usually forgotten and the necessities are not there."

9. If you were the Prime Minister what changes would you make and how would you go about making those changes?

"I would tackle the crime and violence, right now that is Jamaica's biggest problem. We know that Jamaica is a small island and there are people out there who know people. I would try to motivate them to come out and aid thier country in the fight against crime and violence."

10. What do you hope to achieve in five years?

"I hope to finish school and have a really really lovely job."
