MEMBER OF Parliament for North West Clarendon, Richard Azan, has said that an allocation of funds from the Culture, Health, Arts, Sports and Education, (C.H.A.S.E.) fund will see construction work beginning this week on the reroofing of the Kraal Basic School in his constituency.
It is hoped, he said, that the project will be completed in time for the new school term, starting next week Monday.
According to Mr. Azan, C.H.A.S.E., recently approved the $300,000 funding requested by him for the project. The school, he said, has been without a roof since Hurricane Wilma last year.
NEW PROJECT
He added that another project, the refurbishing of the Cumberland Health Centre, is presently under way. The project, also funded by C.H.A.S.E will cost $1.2 million.
Refurbishing will include the addition of a bathroom and perimeter fencing.
Mr. Azan revealed that he had also recognised that the Thompson Town Health Centre ought to be refurbished and as a result, a requested $850,000 from the government funding agency has been approved for it. No suggested time was given by the MP as to when the work will begin, but he promised that the project "is next in line".
