Maybe moving walkways?
published: Friday | January 6, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AS A visiting Jamaican I would like to extend vociferous congratulations to the current investor/operator of the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. The newly opened terminal is truly first class and an asset to Jamaica's quest for world-class public transportation infrastructure.

It is with well-meaning intention that I, however, hasten to interject that many of the fellow visitors arriving on my inaugural United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., were vocal in their expression of disgust for the lengthy walk between the arrival gate and the immigration/custom hall. One solution that could be explored is the installation of moving walkways as found in major airport terminals around the world.

I am, etc.,
