THE EDITOR, Sir:
'CRIME IS our nation's biggest problem.' A Gleaner editorial assured us of that stated fact. The thing is, the Jamaican people know this and have known for many years now. What we, the nation, don't know is, whether there is any short-term plan (a five-year span) to deal with crime. I say not. Our leaders' ability to randomly come up with so many crime-fighting initiatives, committees, task forces and units, clearly confirms their inability to formulate a good short-term crime fighting plan.
Hence, my questions to the Prime Minister, the Governor-General and the Opposition Leader, who all stated that they know of the crime problem and that it is real, are:
- What are you all going to do about crime?
- When are you all going to start doing something about crime?
- Why have none of your past strategies worked?
- Will these crime-fighting plans be put into motion?
The Jamaican people want to know; the families of those who died last year want to know.
Where is the action that goes with all your talk?
I am, etc.,
