WILLIAMS
KENT PANTRY, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), has rejected reports that People's National Party (PNP) activist Danhai Williams will be charged for his no-show at the Kraal trial.
"In the Kraal case, the witness was given immunity for him to give evidence in the case. The fact that he did not attend and give evidence would automatically cause the immunity to lapse," he said. "So, all the persons on the road who are talking about me intending to charge persons, there is no immunity, because the immunity has lapsed," emphasised the DPP.
Williams was expected to give evidence at the trial but he did not show. The prosecution's attempts to have his statement accepted as evidence on December 7, were rejected. A day later, Mr. Williams' lawyers said, in another court case, that he did not turn up at the Kraal trial as his client was being forced to lie.
