American Women's Group president Cathy Smithson has every reason to smile following a successful wine and cheese fund-raiser.
LAST SATURDAY night saw members of the American Women's Group (AWG) converging in the gardens of the Stony Hill residence of Guardsman's Kenny Benjamin for 'An Evening in Paradise'. And despite the threat of undesirable weather conditions as a result of Hurricane Wilma, a grand time was had by all at the wine and cheese party.
Buffet stations were scattered throughout the many nooks and crannies of the gardens, and chatter was animated as guests enjoyed all the scrumptious treats expertly prepared by Lorraine Fong and her team.
CHARITY
The event was put on to raise funds to fix Maryland Basic School that has been severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan, as well as others that have occurred since then. Those who contributed to the festivities include Dawn Woodstock whose elaborate treasure chest of goodies was raffled.
Fund-raising chairperson Joan Lindo commends AWG president Cathy Smithson, event planner Dawn Woodstock, the members of the board and the committee, for working so tirelessly in order to raise funds for the Maryland Basic School.
GUESTS
Among them were: Cathy Smithson, Jackie Dorsey, Tamara Hill, Trefina Aseidu, Brunnetta Matthews, Beverly and Hilda Kawass, Patricia Brunicardi, Leslie Wan, Marcia Francis and Yvonne Fisher.
An announcement will be made to disclose the amount raised. The AWG is grateful to all who pulled off the successful evening's soiree, particularly to Norma Harrack, for giving so selflessly.
