PORTMORE UNITED registered a dramatic come-from-behind 2-1 win to rob Constant Spring of a share of the points in the first game of a Wray and Nephew National Premier League triple-header at the National Stadium.

Constant Spring struck the first blow early in the first half, as a Fabian Dawkins corner found its way to the feet of veteran striker Walter Boyd who made no mistake in rolling the ball past goalkeeper Shawn Sawyers.

Portmore while conceding the early goal exhibited more settled play and as the half progressed gradually began to gain dominance in possession. However, despite having the lion's share of possession their play in the final third lacked accuracy both in terms of crossing and finishing.

Having failed to capitalise on breaches of Constant Spring's defensive unit in the first half, Portmore began the second half in very positive fashion and dominated the midfield play with crisp accurate passes and consistent running.

Portmore were finally rewarded in the 84th minute, when defender Marlon Edwards hesitated and substitute Jason Morrison skilfully sent defender Emeil Thomas clattering to the turf before calmly netting the ball.

Portmore got the winner deep into injury time when a corner ended up on the boot of Rafei Wolfe who scored to secure all three points.

FAIR REPRESENTATION

A disappointed Maurice Lyn coach of Constant Spring thought his team had given a fair representation of themselves but lost composure in terms of seeing out the victory.

"This team needs to mature because with a 1-0 lead we started to panic and kick away the ball instead of keeping it...if we had kept our composure I think we would have won the game"

Portmore coach Paul Young while admitting that his team missed several opportunities was pleased with the outcome. "I was pleased with the effort that the players put out today we didn't give up even though we were a goal down"
