Powerful women perform for charity

The popular Show Girls, publishing executive, Glynis Salmon; Education Minister Maxine Henry-Wilson; Tourism Minister, Aloun N'Dombet Assamba (background) ; and make-up consultant, Joan Russell are back for this year's Powerful Women in Concert, Sunday, May 1, at the National Indoor Sports Centre at Independence Park.

ABOUT 60 influential women from the private and public sectors have been in rehearsals for the Powerful Women Perform for Charity Show, set for May 1 at 6:00 p.m., at the National Indoor Sports Centre, Kingston. The concert, now in its fifth year, is to benefit the Mustard Seed Communities' charities.

This year's line up include new performers such as 2004 Business Leader Nominee, Michele Hamilton and managing director of MAPCO Printers; Resident Magistrate Carol Gonzales-DaCosta; Consul for Ecuador, Clelia Barreto deHunter; Communications Director at D&G, Maxine Whittingham; medical doctor, Carol Ball-Thompson; and attorneys Sandra Phillips, Juliette Bailey and Hilary Phillips.

Crowd favourites such as Postmaster General, Blossom O'Meally-Nelson; Broadcaster Carol Francis; 'The Show Girls'; 'The Choir'; CEO of the Hydel Group of Companies, Hyacinth Bennett; Publishing Executive, Glynis Salmon, as well as Cabinet Ministers, Maxine Henry-Wilson and Aloun N'Dombet Assamba, have also been confirmed for this year's show.

"We will be producing a tighter show this year, with a number of group performances to ensure that we stick to a two-and-a-half-hour programme," said show choreographer Bert Rose who, together with Lawrence Tulloch and Desmond Hyatt, are responsible for the production of the show.

CASH BAR AND CASH SNACK SECTION

About 4,000 seats will be available at the air-conditioned National Indoor Sports Centre and the Powerful Women Perform for Charity planning committee will be putting in a cash bar and cash snack section at the venue for the show.

Tickets are on sale for $1,200 reserved, $1,000 general, $500 children and are available at Jam Rock, Knutsford Boulevard; Island Grill at Manor Park, Half-Way Tree, Knutsford Boulevard and Sovereign Centre; Viola's Passion and Sky Tech, Sovereign Centre; Great Vacations, New Kingston, Bijoux at Knutsford Boulevard; Signatures, 4 Dilcoosha Avenue and Body Dynamics, Port Henderson Plaza, Portmore.
