BITU expresses sympathy to Nelson
published: Tuesday | November 2, 2004

RUDDY SPENCER, president of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU), has expressed sadness at the death of Julius Nelson, son of Dwight Nelson, senior vice-president of the union. Julius was found strangled to death at his Brompton Road apartment on the weekend.

"Officers, staff members, delegates and the wider family of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union are saddened by the tragic and untimely death of Julius Nelson," Mr. Spencer said in a statement yesterday.

He disclosed that several senior members of the union and the Jamaica Labour Party were with the senior Mr. Nelson when he received the "frightening news" about his son. "Julius Nelson was a bright, responsible young man with tremendous potential and was destined for great things. The country was robbed of this by murderous barbaric individual(s)," the BITU president said.
