TEARS OF JOY

In general I find The Gleaner, as most media, a depressing essential to my day. By and large the tone in which we address each other and our situation is shrill and harsh. The constant stream of murders leaves me in shame and fear. Today, for the first time since the days of Thomas Wright I found myself truly entertained. 'When the waters covered the earth' succeeded in covering my face with tears of joy. It was a truly clever l0l piece of writing. Thank you Mr Hartley Neita for reminding us that a newpaper need not only be death, destruction and presumptive displays of grandeur. Doreen McGann, doreenmcgann@netscape.net, Via Go-Jamaica.

IMAGINE THAT!

Don't you also find it totally mind-blowing that average honest tax-paying voters in the last remaining super-power, with the planet's largest army and a military budget exceeding that of all the other non-remaining superpowers combined, and with the world's most sophisticated intelligence network that so accurately forecasts the quantities and precise locations of Saddam's vast arsenal of weapons of mass destruction, are subjected to (humiliated by) having to watch excerpts from a profession-ally produced Osama bin Laden music video three days before electing their next commander-in-chief? David Marsden, Barbados, dee-marz@asticles.com.

LET AIR J GO

Dr. Davies' support of Air Jamaica gives taxpayer money to the rich. Let Air Jamaica go, another airline will replace it. I fly from Charlotte N.C. to MoBay on U.S. Air for half the price of Air Jamaica. Save the taxpayers' money. Butch Stewart has plenty money. Robert A.
