Nelson killing awful reminder
published: Tuesday | November 2, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE NATIONAL Organisation of Women sends its deepest regrets to the family of Dwight Nelson and hopes that the perpetrator of this dreadful crime is quickly brought to justice. No country can hope to survive if a nation is not made safe for its citizens. No nation can hope to survive if our bright young people are murdered at the very time when they are ready to make a difference and to serve their country.

The murder of Julius Nelson, son of Dwight Nelson, is another reminder of what an awful state the country is in and what a terrible and frightening future so many face. We call on the Government to get on with the job of making the country safe.

Bring the perpetrators of murder, robbery and mayhem to justice and do so quickly, efficiently and quietly. There is no need for grand publicity and grand statements, just get on with the job and do what has to be done.

I am, etc.,

COUNCILLOR SALLY PORTEOUS

Deputy Mayor of Mandeville & General

Secretary, National

Organisation of Women
