Horne
AS THE temperature rises in the JLP leadership campaign, the finger of blame has increasingly been pointed at one man who, himself, has not publicly figured strongly in the campaign so far.
Now, that man, Norman Horne, wants it known that he is not responsible for the ads and releases, described by some as part of a 'dirty tricks' campaign directed at Bruce Golding's candidacy.
The ads, on radio and cable television, purportedly from 'Friends of the JLP', seek largely to discredit Mr. Golding, questioning his character and his sense of empathy with the Jamaican people.
NO IDEA
"About any dirty tricks campaign, I have absolutely no idea; I am definitely not involved," Senator Horne told The Sunday Gleaner, in response. Similar denials have been made by Pearnel Charles and others publicly backing him in the leadership race.
But Dr. Horace Chang, chairman of Bruce Golding's campaign team, is not buying the denials.
"They don't claim responsibility for it but we know otherwise. A member of their team has said that if Golding cannot stand up to this kind of challenge now how can he stand up to the PNP? He has also said that he shares the ideas being put out in some of the ads, but that the ads themselves are not his.
There must be a connection," Dr. Chang charged.
