Show more appreciation please

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I TOTALLY agree with the writer Lillian Robinson in her letter to you posted on Wednesday, August 25, 2004. We need to appreciate our countrymen and women more. There are so many participating countries who would have liked to have a semi-finalist and finalist in an event, more so three, which Jamaica had. We should indeed be proud, whether or not they get a medal. The long and short of it is that they have done their best and have done us proud.

Today, we celebrate; Miss Campbell has done it for us again. The humility she exuded after such a hallmark event was remarkable, to say the least. To Miss Bailey, a wonderful woman, I applaud her for her true team spirit. This inspires me indeed. I wish Asafa and the others all the very best in the upcoming events.

We are a resilient set of people and we can do it. At a time when the crime rate hovers in this country, may this victory on the international circuit let us as Jamaicans now join forces, unite, get it right and move on in the name of love.

I am, etc.,
