We are rich in compassion
published: Saturday | February 28, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I CANNOT contain my anger and utter disgust at the opinions expressed in the letter written by Ulrich May in the February 26 issue of this newspaper. Let Mr. May be advised that although Jamaica is a poor country in economic terms, we are rich in compassion, we know what values are, we are not rugged individualists, and we are, despite our short comings, still directed by the edict, love and care for your brothers and sisters.

Jamaica, Mr. May, is not the United States, we are not arrogant, boastful and full of ourselves.

I am, etc.,

CLINTON G. HEWAN
