World-famous magician coming to Jamaica
published: Saturday | November 22, 2003

WORLD-FAMOUS illusionist, American Andre Kole, is expected to take his "Magical Spectacular" to Jamaica from Saturday, November 22 to Saturday, December 6.

Considered one of the greatest magical entertainers of our time, Kole will cause people to materialise and dematerialise on stage and do other seemingly "impossible phenomena".

"As an illusionist, I do not waste my time trying to accomplish that which is possible, but rather I concentrate on that which is impossible," Kole said.

Kole, who is the creative consultant to David Copperfield, has performed in 78 countries and has appeared on television in more than 40 countries.

'MAGICAL SPECTACULAR'

The islandwide series of 'Magical Spectacular' presentations is to begin with two shows in Kingston at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 22 at the Ward Theatre. Then from Tuesday, November 25 to Friday, November 28 the show will be staged at the Assembly Hall, UWI. Residents of Portmore will be able to see the magician at the Portmore Heart Academy on Saturday, November 29. He will move to the Knox College, Spaulding on Sunday November 30, then to the Cecil Charlton Hall, Mandeville for two shows on Monday, December 1 and 2.

Munro College, Malvern, St. Elizabeth will be the venue for the show on Wednesday, December 3 and on Friday, December 5 residents of Westmoreland can see the illusionist in action at the Manning's High School. The series will end on Saturday, December 6 at the Montego Bay Community College. All shows will begin at 7 p.m.

Kole's interest in the art of illusion began at age 7 while watching a performance by Moxo, the Magician. The two eventually became friends and Moxo began Kole's early education in the field. By 12, he had performed in more than a dozen states, plus Canada and Central America.

The illusionist is one of the leading inventors of magical effects and for a number of years owned a successful business that built and marketed magical inventions which he developed. He is also an expert in psychic research. At the request of the respected Time Magazine several years ago, Kole made a study of the "psychic surgeons" in the Phillipines who claimed to perform miraculous operations without the use of medical instruments. He later testified in court on behalf of the United States Federal Trade Commission in its attempt to stop the promotion of fraudulent psychic healers in that country.

CHALLENGING THE MIRACLES OF JESUS

Several years ago he challenged the miracles of Jesus Christ from the standpoint of an illusionist and a sceptic to determine if the miracles of Christ could have been the work of a master magician. In making his investigation, he made some discoveries that changed the course of his life and he will share some of these findings during his performance.

Andre Kole often appears as a special travelling representative for Campus Crusade for Christ Jamaica, an inter-denominational Christian organisation founded in 1951. His visit to Jamaica is being organised by Campus Crusade for Christ International, with sponsorship from Fi Mi Wireless and CVM TV.
