published: Friday | October 10, 2003

MORE THAN a thousand housing solutions will go on sale October 13 in St. Ann, St. James and Trelawny, the National Housing Trust has stated.

The solutions include a mix of 456 studio units and 614 serviced lots.

In St. Ann, 70 service lots are being sold in the Belle Aire development located in the district of Dumbarton, just 6 kilometres from Runaway Bay.

Also in that parish are 114 lots at Mansfield, a community south east of Ocho Rios, priced at $525,000; while those at Belle Aire are being sold for between $500,000 to $600,000, depending on their size.

ST. JAMES

In St. James, at Cornwall Court Phase 2, 414 service lots, 204 detached studio units and 252 duplex studio units will be offered to contributors. The service lots in that location will be sold for $620,000 while duplex units will be offered at $1.2 million and detached units, at $1.3 million.

Cornwall Court adjoins existing residential communities of Porto Bello and Farm Heights.

Another 16 service lots in the Steelfield Housing Development, located near Clark's Town, will be offered to persons residing or working in Trelawny.

The scheme was developed by the Sugar Industry Housing Ltd. specifically for sugar workers, but the NHT says it has acquired a specific number for sale to its contributor, at prices ranging from $300,000 to $350,000.

"Except in the case of Belle Aire, purchasers will have to factor in closing costs for each property to arrive at the final sum to be paid," said a release from the NHT.

Applications will be accepted along with deposits during the week of November 3 to 7.
