By Leslie McleanCLAREMONT, St. Ann:
Member of Parliament for North East St. Ann, Shahine Robinson says she is being hampered in providing needed assistance to constituents, which she blames on government, whom she said is yet to provide Social and Economic Support Program (SESP) funds.
Mrs. Robinson said she was still waiting on her SESP allocation for the entire year.
"Our hands are tied and a lot of labourites are buying into PNP propaganda that we are not doing anything. We have got no allocation," she told a Jamaica Labour Party Area Council 3 meeting in Ocho Rios.
The MP noted that she was promised $100,000 for sports allocation and when she checked last week was told it was not available.
"We are getting letters of credit, but the funds are not going to the relevant agency," she said.
Noting that "the expectation of labourites are even higher since we won
the parish council election", Mrs. Robinson said she would be going on the road to advise her constituents of her financial constraints.
"I speak so passionately as I have 10,000 squatters people living below the poverty line and in sub human condition," having told the meeting that she was advised that funds might be released in January.
