Seaboard Ja gets new CEO

CHAIRMAN OF Seaboard Jamaica, Charles Johnston, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Corah Ann Robertson-Sylvester as chief executive officer, effective October 1, 2003.

She succeeds Grantley Stephenson, who was recently appointed managing director of Kingston Wharves Limited. Mrs Robertson-Sylvester has been working with Seaboard as director of sales and marketing since 1999. Seaboard Jamaica is the local operators for Seaboard Marine, a leading carrier out of the United States.

Prior to Seaboard, she held various positions with several shipping companies, including director of sales and marketing at Jamaica Freight and Shipping, where she managed sales, marketing and advertising for the lines represented, including Seaboard Marine, Jamaica Producers Shipping Co., Kent Line, Ivaran Shipping and Misuiti.

She has also worked as the line manager and subsquently sales and marketing manager at Kirk Line, and as project manager for Coastal Shipping/ Interseas, where she supervised the repair and dry-docking of a ro/ro vessel in Colombia.

Currently, she is the vice-president of the Caribbean Shipping Association, a regional shipping body, and a member of the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ), where she serves as an active member of the SAJ Agents Committee.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of West Indies (UWI) and a diploma in shipping logistics from the Norwegian Shipping Academy (Norway). Mrs. Robertson-Sylvester is married to Courtney Sylvester and has three children ­ Emmanuel, Jessica and Benjamin.

In welcoming Mrs. Robertson-Sylvester, Mr Johnston said he was confident that she would do an excellent job as the new CEO.
