OPPOSITION LEADER, Edward Seaga, has warned Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillors in Parish Councils controlled by the party that he is not going to accept their non-attendance at council meetings.
Speaking at an award function for party stalwarts over the weekend, Mr. Seaga said he heard that some councillors had not been attending council meetings. He said this would not be tolerated.
UPSET AND SAD
"I was most upset and sad to hear of at least two councils, probably more, in which two of the members don't attend regularly, or sometimes they are there and they leave and go," he said to thunderous applause from supporters. "It cannot work and it must not work."
Mr. Seaga said that in some of the councils, the JLP leads by only a majority of one or two making it imperative that every JLP councillor attend all meetings. "When all councillors don't attend meetings you cannot take a vote or your vote will be defeated," he stated.
