Medical account needed
published: Tuesday | October 7, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like to suggest to the government that unclaimed money from banks, insurance companies, the Jamaica Public Service Co. Ltd and other companies be placed in a special account to facilitate medical treatment overseas (not available in Jamaica) for needy patients.

We are a caring people and if these funds are made available, then these patients and their families need not be portrayed as mendicants in the media. This unnecessary media "exposure" is humiliating and must stop now. I sincerely hope that the powers that be will act on my humble suggestion.

I am, etc.,
