JAMAICA RESTORED some pride at the 2003 TCL Group/West Indies Under-19 one-day tournament when they thrashed minnows Rest of Americas (ROA) by seven wickets at Bourda Oval in Guyana yesterday.
Scores: ROA 111 off 40 overs; Jamaica 112 for three from 30.1.
Left-arm pacer Krishmar Santokie, who picked up four wickets against the Windward Islands on Tuesday, was again the dangerman picking up 5-33 off nine overs.
Legspinner Alton Beckford, 2-17, and off-spinner Howard Powell, 2-21, also got among the wickets as only Steven Outerbridge, 38 runs, and William Perkins, 29, were able to make useful contributions for the team made up of players from Bermuda, Argentina and Cayman Islands.
In reply, Jamaica strolled to 43 before losing the wicket of Xavier Marshall, 18, bowled by Justin Robinson, who also picked the other wickets of Duran Whyte, 28, and Jamie Trenchfield, two, to finish with 3-34.
However, despite his 10-over spell, Robinson was unable to remove opening batsman and captain Simon Jackson, 43, who along with Howard Powell, four, took Jamaica to victory.
AT LBI: Leewards 140 (Javia Liburd 31; Shaheed Keshvani 3-17) went down to Canada 141 for nine off 46 overs (Steve Liburd 4-26) by one wicket.
AT WALES: Defending champions Windward Islands 137-9 off 50 overs lost to Trinidad & Tobago 140 for nine off 48.2 by one wicket.
AT BLAIRMONT: Hosts Guyana defeated Barbados by two wickets in their top-of-the-table clash.
