Changes to our mailing system
published: Sunday | June 29, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

LAST WEEK I received a Registered Notice from the Post Office regarding a parcel. Wondering what this could be I went to collect it. After having signed the form I was presented with a Customs Form for my signature.

When the package was delivered to my surprise it was my May copy of the Readers Digest. Formerly this would have been placed in my mail box.

The clerk could give me no reason for the change. Has someone gone crazy? Is this progress? If I must go to the Post Office to collect one magazine I have no alternative but to cancel my subscription when it comes up for renewal.

Now we know why the public sector of our country costs so much. Policies are introduced where simple common sense would dictate otherwise. Is this the decision of our consultants?

I am, etc.,
