'Jamaica's Pastor'
published: Tuesday | April 8, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE MERL Grove Past Students' Association (Canada) wishes to express our condolence to Mrs. Gloria Grant and the rest of the family at the passing of her husband, The Rev. Cleve Grant.

It seems that unless you started Merl Grove in September 2002, there is a 99 per cent chance you were taught by Mrs. Grant or that you have had her warm embrace or gentle correction sometime during your MGHS life. Mrs. Grant has meant so very much to us. When the Bible speaks of a 'helpmate' for a husband, if you look carefully, you will see the face of Gloria Grant right in the middle of that statement.

Rev. Cleve Grant picked up his beloved wife at school daily, and there was never a day when he was not smiling, gentle, humble and warm. Not only to Mrs. Grant, but to all of us girls with whom he would come in contact.

Jamaica will miss him greatly and so will all of us 'girls'. He was truly 'Jamaica's Pastor'. His unique voice on Noonday Meditation will be sorely missed. A man of character, strength, humility and unwavering love for his God, his family and his country now rests in peace.

We will miss you.

I am etc.,
