Capture the criminals first
published: Sunday | November 24, 2002

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM somewhat taken aback by the JLP's call upon Government to have Scotland Yard investigate the CMU and Reneto Adams.

Would it not be equally or more important for the JLP to ask that Scotland Yard be called in to investigate what is behind the spate of murders currently taking place in Jamaica, with particular emphasis placed on the recent mind-boggling upsurge in the killing of children?

Why should sole emphasis be placed upon investigating the CMU and Adams when by no reasonable stretch of the imagination can the CMU and Adams be viewed in the same context as the criminal elements wreaking havoc upon this land?

It seems to me that the top priority at this time should be upon using all the amenities of the force to gather intelligence, track and capture dangerous criminals.

Hopefully, this would be followed by swift convictions and heavy sentences.

Investigate and capture the criminals first. That is priority number one right now.

I am, etc.,
