Central Kgn to know new PNP representative soon

THE Central Kingston constituency, left vacant when the Reverend Ronald Thwaites, resigned as Member of Parliament earlier this month, is one step closer to knowing who its People's National Party (PNP) representative will be.

Yesterday at the Jamaica Conference Centre, members of the constituency executives voted on the three hopefuls who have expressed interest in the position.

The results, which PNP assistant general secretary Harry Douglas said are not "known even to the voters", is to be presented in a report to party leader, Prime Minister P.J. Patterson.

Mr. Patterson is expected to discuss reports with the 12 officers of the party, before a decision is made.

Those vying for the seat are Colonel Leslie Lloyd, former MP for the area; Sonia Rickards, who recently lost out to O.T. Williams in a race for the candidacy in West St. Andrew and Victor Cummings, Councillor for the Allman Town Division.
