Proper guidance needed

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I READ in the online edition where the Leader of the Opposition said, "a special team of persons should be put around young track and field star Bolt to give him proper guidance in all areas of his life." This was in reference to Usain Bolt who won a gold medal at the just concluded World Junior Athletic Championships.

My question is this, aren't his parents good enough? What about his mentors at William Knibb and Waldenisia etc?

Are the "goodly" country yam planting folk not good enough to guide him? I agree that assistance should be given to make sure he is OK, however, it should be in a manner which is tasteful and not insulting to his parents.

So let us not get carried away, and please do not do any crazy things which may affect his NCAA eligibility, assuming he will study in the United States in the future.

I am etc,
