Urgent road repairs needed

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ON THURSDAY January 17, I happened to pass through my hometown of Runaway Bay, and was appalled by the disgusting state of the roads. From the crossroads going south to Brown's Town looks like a gully course, and gives a very bumpy ride. It is an absolute shame to see how the road system has deteriorated.

Only cosmetic repairs have so far been done to the roads. Ever since the road was dug up to install underground cables, the condition has worsened. It is almost impossible to breathe on a dry windy day because of dust.

Our Member of Parliament, and PNP Councillor for the Sturge Town division should pay some attention to these roads, which are some of the worst in the parish. This is part of the North Coast, our tourist attraction area. Both the locals and tourists will benefit from the good roads.

We Jamaicans should never be made to suffer under these horrible conditions.

I am, etc.,
