By Calitho Roberts, ContributorAS STIFLING as the economy may seem, I asked myself, "What positive message can I give to youth of today?"
This is what I am led to say.
I believe your life is what you make it. We can turn around this sad and dreadful picture that we have painted for ourselves teenagers gunned down by policemen, said to be at the wrong place at the wrong time; public transport held up by 18-year-olds etc.
I don't know about you, but I would love to see this picture turned around. I would love to see young adults doing their doctorates, becoming inventors, bankers, accountants. Now, isn't that a beautiful picture?
Everybody has a dream, but these dreams can only be realised if you keep focused on your goals and never losing track of your dreams. What is your goal?
My goal is to let readers know that through positive thinking and self-confidence they can attain anything in this world. My motto is: "Anything I want, I must get it, and if I never get it, I nearly did."
Believe you can.
Everything in life is just within reach and within that reach the only limitation is you. In life, no matter how hard it seems, never let go of your dreams. There is no such thing, as "I can't do it". In my book that is a no-no. What about you? Man's greatest motivation is himself. A man's greatest inspiration is himself and, remember, it's all about self-confidence.
DEDICATION IS KEY
Young adults, dedicate yourself to your goals. This is the key to fulfilling your goal. Without dedication, as inspired as you maybe, you will not attain your goal. Dedication means having discipline. Discipline takes a little nourishing it takes time, therefore it cannot be achieved overnight. To be disciplined, you must also have a plan and, more importantly, you have to be focused. To know your path or purpose in life, you must first know your goals. Knowing your purpose will change your life.
Notice that I have not spoken about obstacles, which may come in one's life now and then. I don't see obstacles, I see motivational blocks. Look at them as things that tell you that you need to push a
little harder because you are almost there.
I'm not a pessimist. That's time consuming. You must be positive in everything you do. An optimist is the greatest inspirator. Only an optimist can see the silver lining in a grey cloud, and it only takes a view of that silver lining to know you are almost there.
Believe in yourself and put no limits on the things you can do.
