MKB, promoters of Heineken Startime series, are currently in discussions with music promoters in Grand Cayman, Trinidad, Canada and the United States regarding the possibility of taking the series to those countries.A release from the company said this is part of its plan to take the series to higher heights, but gave no details as to the progress being made on the talks.
In the meantime, this year's series will be under the theme 'The Living Legends Series', comprising three mini-festivals honouring several of our legendary musical heroes. There is also to be the usual anticipated grand finale, 'Best Of The Best', featuring the best acts from each show in the series.
The first in the new series of shows is expected to begin on Saturday, May 26 at the Mas Camp Village, Kingston. One of the stars confirmed for that event is international reggae giant Half Pint who recently signed a major publishing contract with Spirit Music Group of New York, USA.
Half Pint will be making his Heineken Startime debut.
In addition, MKB will be taking two shows out of town. In Mandeville, Heineken Startime's 'Tribute To Fathers' is set for Saturday, June 16 with a special Startime showcase planned for St. Ann on Saturday, June 23.
The focus this year will also be on bringing to the local stage more of the vintage stars who have not graced the Jamaican stage in many years. In addition, MKB will continue to expose new talent in its 'Star Of Tomorrow' slot.
