Marston Thomas helps issue meals
The Good Samaritan Inn is a community outreach centre which caters to needy, hungry and homeless people of Kingston and St Andrew. Conceptualised and owned by the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, this facility is operated in conjunction with the Adventist-laymen's Services and Industries (ASI) East Jamaica.
The Good Samaritan Inn is located at Geffrard Place (between Orange Street and National Heroes Circle), adjacent to the National Heroes Circle SDA Church (the Old Stanley Motta Building). It commenced its operations on the grounds of the church on December 23, 2007 at 1 p.m., serving 50 packaged dinners and juices.
Typical programme
A typical Sunday programme at the Inn starts at 11:30 a.m. with registration of beneficiaries. This is followed with a lively song service and devotion at 12:30 p.m. Lunch is served at 1 p.m. After lunch, there is distribution of clothing and shoes. Individuals arriving at the Inn can take their bath before going to the registration booth.
There have been interesting responses to the activities at the Inn. For the period February to December 31, 2008, 11,350 lunches were served; more than 3,000 articles of clothing distributed and about 300 pairs of shoes given away.
Christ's Church was commissioned by God to take care of the poor among us (Isaiah 58:7-14). Needy people are all around us.
The Inn has had an impact on the lives of people. Not only have their physical lives been in the process of transformation, but some have started to attend church regularly. To date, 11 precious souls have been baptised at the Heroes Circle SDA Church.
Tremendously appreciated
The dedicated work of ASI East Jamaica is tremendously appreciated, as the members have committed to funding, equipping and leading the growth of this community project.
To God be the glory, great things He hath done for us and will continue to do at the Good Samaritan Inn. You can become a volunteer and/or a contributor.

Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:35-40. "For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink ... naked and ye clothed me ... Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
