Jackie Robb brought the new craze in her kitchen, red rice, Kathy Dear did a pumpkin loaf and Mandarin salad and Jackie Bird's tiramisu was the 'bomb' at the monthly potluck organised by a group of friends in the western city, Montego Bay.

Pot luck is a gathering of people where each person is expected to bring a dish to be shared among the group.

On Saturday, May 16, while the country received a heavy shower of rain, these friends, many with similar interests and who have come to the conclusion that "it takes nothing to have a good lime", hosted each other at the Caribbean Fairways Villa in Spring Farm, Rose Hall.

One member of the group, Gail Moe, was celebrating her birthday, but her tastefully presented spare ribs took the cake.

In true pot luck tradition, all the women - young and old - brought a dish. Young Danielle Lee turned her hand and made a vegetarian enchilada, while Judy Schweizer created magic with her barbecued chicken and Violet Whitfield will no doubt have mouths watering for more of her roasted chicken.

For Dorothy Vendryes, a quiche was in order, while Sharon Cunningham's apple crumble with rum and raisin ice cream.
