White, Parchment shine at Melbourne

Former national youth representatives Tarique White and Ishmael Parchment reminded national selectors that they still have ambitions of one day representing Jamaica at the senior level with magnificent centuries at the Melbourne Oval yesterday.

The pair, who represented Holmwood and St Elizabeth Technical, respectively, shared a first-wicket stand of 270 - the highest this season - as their team, St Elizabeth Warriors, behind on first innings against Melbourne Kangaroos, closed yesterday's Jamaica Super Cricket League contest on 293-3.

12 fours and three sixes

The 23-year-old White, who hits the ball clean and hard, slammed 12 fours and three sixes in making a season-high 174 runs, while the 20-year-old Parchment cracked 106, including nine fours and two sixes.

The Kangaroos had earlier posted 386 to claim a 145-run first-innings lead. Pacers Ainsley Goss and Davian Davidson took 4-54 and 3-89, respectively.
