With a potent script from Garfield Reid, weeks of ardent rehearsals from the cast, astute directing from Michael Nicholson and a determined and vibrant promotional thrust from Stages Productions, Bashment Granny 2 is now ready for public offering and will open tomorrow at the Green Gables Theatre. The play, which is a sequel to the 2006 hit, features Deon Silvera, Keith Ramsay, Maxwell Grant, Abigail Grant, Volier Johnson and Junior Williams.

Bashment Granny 2 (The Saga Continues) is a story that explores friendship, loyalty and trust. It looks at the influence of money as a social divider and as a tool of corrupt practices. Reid's well-executed scheme to collect $12 million from his girlfriend under false pretences worked very well, except for the lack of an exit strategy. The cash not only came from questionable sources, it landed in questionable hands, under questionable circumstances and this results in an avalanche of charges, countercharges and the discharging of weapons.

Half-A-Dog

Mr Bashment (Maxwell Grant) is adamant that his hard work in securing the cash is worth at least $6 million. Constable Shebada (Keith Ramsay) is contending the same. Half-A-Dog (Junior Williams), the real owner of the cash, is in no mood for negotiations. He wants half of nothing.

Constable Shebada is not only fighting for his portion of the cash. He is using some of the cash to fight for his freedom as he now finds himself in court on a charge of murder, stemming from a shooting incident as he tries to enforce the law. Betram (Volier Johnson) is Constable Shebada's attorney, who is not only mounting a vigorous defence, but is also fighting for his own marriage, after his wife, Gloria (Deon Silvera), decides to serve up a menu of divorce papers.

In the core of this social centrifuge Babalita (Abigail Grant) is stretched by her former association with Bad Boy Trevor and her new high-energy romantic escapade with the New York-accented Half-A-Dog.

Stages Productions is known for its consistency in delivering intense comedies (Bashment Granny, Shebada Come to Town, Like Father Like Son, Below the Waist and Di Driva). Bashment Granny 2 will be the epitome of this consistency. Stages' directors believes it is not enough that you come to a play and see a good story; you must have an excellent story spiced with excellent comedy with the end result being a brilliant show with high entertainment value. Bashment Granny 2 will deliver on all these tenets.

Showtime for Bashment Granny 2 is 8:30 p.m. and tickets are available at the Green Gables Theatre, 6 Cargill Avenue.
