Bridgeport High School's shot putter, Odaine Chishlom, was in superb form at the weekend's Carifta Games Trials held at the Stadium East Complex.

Now he is aiming for bigger things with just over a week to go before Champs.

In the boys' Under-20 shot put, Chisholm threw 16.77m to beat Calabar's Noel Facey (15.86m).

"I see myself throwing further at Champs because this is the best throw for the season," added the 16-year-old who threw 13.78m for 10th last year.

Jamaica College's Ramone Birch won last year with a throw of 15.92m.

"I know I have more in me. I don't ready to peek yet, I am waiting until Champs and Carifta Games," Chisholm continued.

I am going for the record at Champs," he added. The Champs record is 18.36, held by Fabian Morgan, formerly of Kingston College. (KC).

"I wanted to throw 17m today (Sunday) but I did not get it so I am hoping to get it at Champs," he added.

Other action

Meanwhile, in other action from Sunday's final day in the girls' 100m hurdles, Janelle Gordon of Wolmer's (14.43) beat Alpha's Rosemarie Carty (14.47), while Warren Weir of Calabar took the boys' 110m hurdles for Under-20 boys in 13.72 over national junior record holder Keiron Stewart of KC (13.86).

The KC pair of D'Omar Boyden (13.83) and Lemmar Wilson (14.13) finished one-two in the Under-17 boys' event.

Genneva Greaves of University of Technology (UTech) took the girls' event with a throw of 12.96 ahead of St Hugh's Candice Bernard (12.82m), while Trudy-Ann Rowe of Wolmer's (9.93m) took the girls' Under-17 shot put.

St Jago's Machel Baker and Kemarki Absalom of St George's both cleared 2.00m in the boys' Under-20 high jump, which went to the former.

Julian Forte of Wolmer's leapt 6.90m to win the boys' Under-17 long jump.
