How to stop wars
published: Tuesday | March 4, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I was intrigued about the story on Prince Harry who had to be hustled out of Afghanistan because his location was made known to all.

It may be wishful feeling on my part, but I really think that the heads of the powerful countries in the world, such as Russia, Europe and the United States, before declaring war on any country, must send their children to the forefront of battle.

Do you remember old British history when all the kings had to lead their armies into war and hence, Shakespeare could write about all the Henrys that led their troops into battle?

In our recent wars, all the leaders have children, and since girls are now in the army, President Bush would not be spared because he has twin daughters and Tony Blair has two sons of age to enter the army.

Certainly, these men would think twice before sending their children into battle.

Wishful thinking, I know, but it would be nice if mankind could really find a way of not killing the innocent and the guilty.

Incarcerate them, if necessary, so that they will stop thinking of going to war.

I am, etc.,
