Trinidad and Tobago police yesterday confirmed that a badly decomposed body found in a hole in the east of the island is that of Justice of the Peace Winston Best, who was due to give evidence in a murder trial this month.

Relatives had expressed concern for the safety of Best, 80, who was taken from his home in Morvant, east of here a week ago, by an unidentified man who said he was seeking assistance on a legal matter.
