WESTERN BUREAU:

Two men met a fiery death in St. James on Thursday night when the motor car in which they were travelling crashed into a concrete utility pole along the Anchovy main road and burst into flames.

The deceased are Reginald McLean, 38 years old, a collection clerk of Llandilo, and Dean Morgan, 25-year-old labourer of Darliston district, Westmoreland.

According to the Constabulary Communi-cation Network liaison officer for St. James, Corporal Peter Salkey, about 10:50 p.m. both men were passengers in a yellow Mazda 6 motor car, registration 4303 FA and driven by Donavon Wallace, a call centre manager of Amity Hall, who was heading towards Westmoreland. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into the utility pole and burst into flames.

Residents in the area were successful in removing the driver from the engulfed motor car, but were forced to watch helplessly as the other occupants perished in the flames.

The Anchovy police are investigating.
