The Editor, Sir:
The JLP is currently running some advertisements asking us to let its leader be the driver of the bus to change course. Now, surely Mr. Bruce 'Flip-Flop' Golding doesn't expect the Jamaican electorate to trust him with our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren, not after the way we all saw how he abandoned his baby, the NDM; and surely not after the way he talked just a few years ago about the same party he now so proudly leads.
He promised us he was new and different, that the NDM was here to stay and make a difference, that he would never go back to the JLP and their way of politics, all of which he failed to keep.
Now he wants to drive a bus. OK, nothing wrong with that, but he wants the entire country in it with him, after he shows us how good a leader and believer in himself he has showed us he can be? I am sorry, but no thanks. After leaving the NDM by the wayside to die a slow and painful death, he wants us to give him Jamaica to run? Thanks, but no thanks.
We might not be totally happy with what we have, but we trust the driver now not to jump out of the bus with us, abandoning us 20minutes into the journey.
I am, etc.,
