'General Hospital' Lulu Spencer is hot on the trail of a killer!
published: Saturday | January 13, 2007

Lulu Spencer

Many times on a soap opera, a murder mystery is always very cut-and-dried. The person everyone thought had originally committed the murder isn't always the real culprit. Such is the case on the latest suspenseful story line on General Hospital.

Back in 2002, shortly before Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) were to remarry, Laura unintentionally killed her stepfather, Rick, in a psychotic fit. Much to Luke's dismay, Laura was shipped off to a mental institution where she remained in a catatonic state.

After Robin Scorpio's discovery of an experimental treatment, she was able to temporarily bring Laura out of her catatonia, with enough time to remarry Luke in a lavish ceremony in front of friends and family (and millions of television viewers). Shortly before returning to her catatonic state, Laura confided in her daughter, Lulu (Julie Berman), that she was starting to believe that she (Laura) hadn't really killed Rick Webber after all.

Now, Lulu is on a mission to clear her mother's name. With the help of Dillon Quartermaine (Scott Clifton), Lulu is hot on the trail of a killer!

exciting storyline

Julie Berman is psyched to be a part of such an exciting story line, one whose outcome could cause general upheaval for the citizens of Port Charles. Lulu and Dillon's prime suspect is none other than Alan Quartermaine.

"I don't really know where this is going," Julie says. "I just know that a huge story is coming, and we're all just waiting for the wave to hit. (Lulu and Dillon) just need one big lead to solve this."

Will this lead be found sometime during February sweeps, perhaps?

"Perhaps," Julie says coyly. "That would be a prime time to discover something big, wouldn't it?"

Lulu must be excited about the fact that through all their sleuthing, she and her former lover, Dillon, are growing closer.

abortion

"I think she definitely likes that. She's been able to come full circle since summer (when he broke her heart and she had the abortion). Now they have reason to spend time together."

Things since the abortion have been far from rosy. The decision to terminate her pregnancy was incredibly difficult for Lulu.

"It's so personal. Obviously this has affected her, and it hasn't gone away. It's a choice she doesn't regret, but it won't be forgotten. It does haunt her - it's a part of her life, and she's dealing with it."

Maybe spending this time with Dillon will help them both heal a bit and perhaps be able to start over again, this time with a clean slate. Anything is possible. After all, this is a soap.

However, for the time being, Lulu has her hands full with playing detective. And who knows - in a few weeks, her dogged determination and tenacity could blow this whole case wide open. Stranger things have happened.
