Family fun day, health hike at Holywell park
published: Saturday | January 13, 2007

Shelly-Ann Thompson, Freelance Writer

Today, trek to the scenic and pleasantly warm Holywell Recreat-ional Park in St. Andrew and Portland for a day of National Health Hike and Family Fun Day.

Organisers, Jamaica Conservation and Development Trust are challenging adults and children to a day of hiking from Gordon Town into the little hideaway of Holywell.

At 7:00 a.m. a shuttle bus will take patrons from the University of Technology, Hope Road, St. Andrew to Gordon Town, where the hike will commence.

After the trail, fun for adults and children still exists. Holywell, a park, boasts tropical birds and plants, and possesses a view that will make anyone pause for seconds.

Discovery Zone

Children under supervision by an adult may get lost at the Kiddies' Club. The Kiddies' Club at Holywell is a physical kid's Discovery Zone that entails several attractions for the children.

Parents do not be jealous, as massage services will be available on-site at Holywell at a special rate.

There will also be interactive games, pictionary and dominoes.

Admission cost is $500. However, this cost includes complimentary services such as a hot beverage at UTech; a complimentary hike pack, which includes a T-shirt, NutriBar and water; round-trip shuttle service from the university; complimentary secure parking at the university.

Adults and children who prefer not to hike can be shuttled directly to Holywell at no extra charge.
