PRIME MINISTER Portia Simpson Miller has warned the 12 newly-appointed State Ministers that she will not tolerate failure in her government.
"Failure is not an option, and so I want to warn you from now, and I know I will have the total support of the majority of the Jamaican people," she said to loud applause during yesterday's swearing-in of the junior ministers in the ballroom at King's House, St. Andrew.
NO TRANSFER
"Any failure will not be transferred. I will repeat, no failure will be transferred elsewhere," Mrs. Simpson Miller added.
Eleven of the 12 appointees were present for the ceremony. Dr. Donald Rhodd, who has been transferred to the Ministry of National Security was absent as he was off the island.
Speaking in a similar tone to that in which she addressed her senior ministers last week, Mrs. Simpson Miller said it would be "no honeymoon" for this team.
"You are going to be criticised, we are told that even before we got started, that we will not succeed," she said. "We are to ensure that, not long from now, the majority of Jamaicans will be saluting our work and the detractors will have to say 'My God, they have done it,'" she said.
