The power of intercession
published: Monday | March 20, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

TO INTERCEDE means to plead with another person on another's behalf. One begins to look at the recent violent death of our dear prayer mother Sister Vilma Mais, a loss of one of the nation's intercessors! We can also see the connection with last year's death of another of our prayer warriors who was cut down by gunmen's bullets in Grants Pen.

As the nation comes to grips with the high rate of crime and violence. We must understand that this is spiritual warfare and frontline soldiers in this war like Sister Vilma Mais, along with our prayer breakfast held where our nation's religious and political leaders came together to ask Almighty God for guidance in this nation and the prayer vigil held at the National Stadium, clearly show that after all of this, there must be a backlash from the forces of darkness.

SHINE LIKE STARS

The time has come for our leaders to recognise the power of intercession. Most intercessors are not involved in religious posturing, they may never be quoted by the media or be on the front pages of leading newspapers but they are recognised by the Lord Jesus Christ and shine like the brighest stars in heaven.

Sister Vilma Mais or Mother Vilma stands as one the nation's symbols of prayer and intercession and her death issues a call to arms for our nation's intercessors to start praying for the soul of our nation; to pray against the spirits of witchcraft, violence and bloodshed, immorality and corruption.

The sister, the brother, the children who died violently both in and coming from church, their lives have only served to awaken and encourage the spirit of intercession in this nation.

I am, etc.,
