God is the answer
published: Wednesday | December 28, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I MUST applaud you, Melita, for your article entitled 'Taking back our country'.

Jamaica has the highest murder rate in the world, based on its population size. Tribal warfare is a serious problem in our country, and has been for decades. This state of social unrest isn't going away, but will even get worse. The underlying cause for these numerous homicides and rapes in our society is the callous disregard for human life and dignity. The politicians cannot resolve these issues because they lack the moral mandate.

How can corrupt leaders effectively lead a nation in the right direction? How can they give orders and pass laws that they themselves have broken? Our leaders should be held accountable for their poor leadership and for the atrocities inflicted upon the people. The same brutal crimes that are happening in some African countries like Uganda, are happening in Jamaica.

Demons are taking over our country. We need to go back to our Christian moral values, and our churches. Unlike our parents, our generation has drifted away from God. We have allowed vanity and materialism to define who we are. We are all obsessed with temporal things and are becoming pagans.

Let us not try to emulate countries like the USA and Britain in their anti-Christ campaigns, insults and immoral practices. God is angry with us, and each year we will feel the force of His wrath with increasing intensity. God is not a genie in a bottle. We must not wait until there is a disaster to call upon Him. He is the answer to the problems in our world today.

I am, etc.,
