Seaga's decision: What does it mean?
published: Monday | July 5, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

DOES THE recent move by Edward Seaga to resign as leader of the party mean hope for new JLP blood and energy?

Does it mean, more confusion and conflict between the inner-core and those outside of the party? Does it mean, that Jamaica will benefit from new ideas? Does it mean that we will as a nation look at what the man (though unpredictable at times) has done instead of what could have been done?

Does it mean that regionalism in the Caribbean through various institutions such as the CCJ and the CSME will have a better chance of survival? Does it mean that the expertise that Mr. Seaga has, will be used to benefit the nation in other well-needed areas?

Whatever this decision means, it is up to us, as a nation. Can we put all the petty things behind us and lets move on.

I am, etc.,

JASMINE DENNIS
