19-y-o killed on bus
published: Wednesday | September 24, 2003

NAVADO WILLIAMS, a 19-year-old resident of Payne Avenue, Kingston 11, was shot and killed aboard a minibus by a fellow passenger in an incident which left horrified commuters scrambling for safety.

According to police reports, about 9:50 a.m. Monday, Williams was a passenger on the bus, which plies the Linstead, St. Catherine to downtown Kingston route. On reaching a section of Spanish Town Road, in the vicinity of Wray and Nephew Ltd., a male passenger asked the driver to stop. When the bus came to a halt, the passenger went to the bus door and took a handgun from another man, who had ridden up on a bicycle. The gunman then pumped several bullets into Williams' body, killing him on the spot.

KILLER, ACCOMPLICE ESCAPE

The killer and the man who handed him the gun both made their escape.

There are allegations that about five months ago Williams' brother, known only as 'Ricky Toughest', was killed by gunmen near the spot where Monday's shooting occurred. The police are yet to establish a motive for the latest killing.
