Am I stuck?
published: Wednesday | September 24, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AM I stuck here in this cold country or do I have an alternative? Can I still call Jamaica my home? I had a talk with a fellow Jamaican last week and informed him that I would love to go back home and reside, and he said to me, "are you going home to die?" I knew where he was coming from with that answer. After hearing this, I could not help myself from falling into a state of depression. My response was, I guess I do not have a home, I am stuck.

I have heard of stories where Jamaicans who have been living abroad for many years decided to follow the same feelings that I had, pack up lot, stock and barrel and moved back home, only to become another victim of senseless crime.

Am I stuck here in this cold country, or do I have an alternative?

I am, etc.,
